BLOG 2: WHEN PEOPLE TAKE A STAND. -- THe case for Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney

If two years ago someone had told me I would be writing on behalf of an extreme conservative like LIz Cheney, or a still more moderate one like Adam Kinzinger, I would have indeed been surprised. But I have been completely moved by their courage, despite disagreeing with most of their political opinions, in that both of these brave civil servants have been able to come forwards with the truth -- they understood that the 2020 election was not stolen from Trump. And moreover, they have been willing to put principle over party, by taking a brave stand that they knew would sacrifice their careers in the GOP. We know that they are not doing this for the money. Cheney's father made well over 60 billion dollars through Halliberton's profits over the Iraq war. But they are laying it on the line for the principles of the United States and the idea that we do represent a democracy, one which has become increasingly tenuous and fragile under Trump's disaster of a presidency. It is truly hard to take seriously anyone who doesn't know where Puerto Rico is or who has suggested injecting clorox as a way to combat a virus which has killed over 1,000,000 americans. What does the future hold? Both are being repudiated by the GOP, which is operating with a level of craven denial which is akin to a group psychosis. We can do more than watch and wait. Take peaceful action.
